My Thoughts on ODST and Firefight
Posted: Wed 12 Aug, 2009 8:49 pm
Cant believe i didnt post this yet.
I went to the ODST event at wizza Island last thursday
SO we got on the ferry, about 50 guys there and filmers IGN and Xbox.com ( i think im in alot of that footage )
So they dropped us off on one side of the island, and they directed us through this mine shaft like tunnel.
Pitch black dark except for a few dull flashing lights. Halo sounds were heard. Really set the mood
As we got further towards the end, an all mighty rumbling was heard, and as we exited, there it was. The warthog.
The Turbocharged beast was sitting there, purring like a Puma (rvb joke), and next to it was a set shaped like the debris from the Space Piller from H3.
As photo's galore was getting taken, a green tent was behind us to the right. As you entered, you saw at least 10 Full HD samsung TV's with the Rookie for the ODST menu.
The lead designer was introduced from WETA, he talked about the build of the Warthog and how far along the movie was before the canned it.
Basically, WETA designed EVERYTHING before the plug was pulled, dammit
And then up came Curtis, talked about how he crashed it when Bungie drove it on 2007
And then, he played the full opening cinematic ( was awesome )
Afterwards, there was a raffle. My ticket was Orange D7, it was a sign!
3rd Prize was a RC Warthog
2nd Prize was a ODST 360, i creamed myself (so did the winner)
1st Prize was a chance to drive the Hog. I know, settle.
Unfortunately i didnt win any, i didnt care. I was here!

So after a brief run through, we had a choice of:
Playing Firefight
Gettin in the Warthog
Talking to Curtis and the guys from WETA
Oh yes, i did all three.
I talked to Curtis first, he liked my H2 shirt
I asked him is Reach definitely Bungie's last Halo game, he said "Who Knows?"
I asked him whats the likely hood of Combat Evolved getting Live/Achievements; "Id be surprised if it happened"
So, then i moved onto Firefight
ok, i know you guys think i love anything Halo, and some of you think the multiplayer isnt all that hot. Wait till you play Firefight
So awesome, and i thought horde was fun. This is the closest thing to Combat Evolved ive ever played. Think about it. The ODST is slower, weaker, doesent jump as high, cant dual wield and the pistol has a zoom. Sound Familiar?
So then after a awesome firefight session, i went out side and took some photo's of me in the Hog being a tard
Wouldn't you do the same?
So then, it was time to go back, man, that was so awesome. I cannot wait for this game.

Looks good cant wait
I know anti halo fans will think its just another of the same but it looks like another fine halo release
Whats the voice comm limitation in Halo3/ODST multiplayer now?
I got bored of Halo3 really quickly and it used to sh1t me to tears that they still had that push-to-talk dpad rubbish in the larger team games.
I know there was an update in Halo3 that improved this a little bit by upping number that broadcast voice comms could work on before having to use push-to-talk but I cant find the details.
Basically I may buy ODST but Im on the fence at the moment but Im wondering how voice comms. works currently now that party chat is possible in the dashboard etc...

i couldent give you a straight answer for that nonny since there was no voice there on the night.
however, since theres no matchmaking and its friends only, i suspect its not push to talk, much like H3 is in Co-Op over live

Sorry Dingo... maybe I wasnt clear. I dont mean Firefight specifically as thats 4 player co-op and I guess that alone will guarantee broadcast voice comms. What Im on about is Halo3 in its current form and ODST MP, which will obviously be just Halo3 MP anyway albeit with all the maps.
How is the push-to-talk voice handled in Halo3 nowadays? I havent played Halo3 in over a year people... so was just wondering how the party mode chat and updates have enhanced it.
